Navigating the complex main storyline of Pillars of Eternity often leads players into intricate political and spiritual conflicts across the Dyrwood. The quest Never Far From the Queen serves as a critical turning point in Act 2, pushing the Watcher to infiltrate secret cult meetings and uncover hidden truths. Understanding how to approach this mission smoothly allows you to progress through Defiance Bay without triggering unnecessary combat encounters.
Reaching the Catacombs and Finding the Disguise
To begin this phase of the journey, players must travel to Defiance Bay and head toward the Catacombs located beneath Copperlane. Exploring these subterranean corridors eventually leads to a battle against hostile fungal creatures guarding a corpse. Searching this fallen adventurer rewards you with the Hood of Woedica, an essential disguise required to bypass guards later on.
Infiltrating the Temple of Woedica
Once you possess the hood, descend deeper into the Catacombs to reach the hidden entrance of the Temple of Woedica. Approaching the guarded doorway wearing the headpiece allows you to pass safely, though high stat checks can also provide alternative access. Stepping inside quietly protects your party from engaging an entire sanctuary full of hostile cultists.
Learning the Secret Pass-Phrases
Inside the temple, head toward the library area to locate an initiate willing to practice ritualistic recitations. Engaging in dialogue with this character reveals specific pass-phrases needed to answer formal questions deeper within the facility. Memorizing or reviewing these key responses ensures that your character passes mandatory checks during the final ritual confrontation.
Confronting the Grand Inquisitor
With the proper answers prepared, proceed alone into the inner sanctum where cultists conduct their secret gathering. Successfully reciting the phrases during the dialogue sequence satisfies the inquisitors and grants vital information regarding Thaos. Completing this dialogue sequence resolves the quest and opens up the next major story branches across the world.
